GYPSY JONES
The Band:
Gypsy Jones formed in 2010 to record songs written by Brianna’s father Chuck Sabatino. Chuck played in bands with Michael McDonald in the St Louis Metro East area and in Michael’s band after he left the Doobie Brother’s. Chuck, unfortunately passed in 1996 but his legacy lives on through Brianna and her powerful voice, and much of Gypsy Jones’ musical style can be attributed to his infuence. The bands name comes from a combination of Brianna’s nickname Gypsy, and a homage to one of Chuck and Don Biver’s bands, Jake Jones. While Brianna is featured, Gypsy Jones feels as much like a family as a band.
The Sound:
It’s straight ahead rock but with a strong thread of blues and funky grooves woven through it all. Brianna’s youth and powerful voice combined with the well seasoned band cooks up flavors that blend artists of today like Adele, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, with the best of the Allman Brothers, the Doors, and soul and blues artist Etta James.
Musicians:
Vocalist Brianna Sabatino is as comfortable singing Led Zeppelin as Tina Turner. Her youthful 27 years can fool you as she’s an old soul, vocally and personally. She is a strong, smooth singer, passionate with every note. She consistently blows everyone away.
Drummer Don Biver had also played with Brianna’s father, Chuck and Michael McDonald and has been a go-to drummer for many of the top St. Louis bands. One of Don’s earliest bands, The Del Rays, opened at Busch Stadium for The Beatles.
Yeah, The Beatles!
Guitarist Glenn Harris sites George Harrison as his earliest influence, and to this day has an undying affection for melodic guitar music. He made a living for years playing in offbeat cover bands with dear friends. In the 80’s, Glenn worked out of Nashville running sound for Leon Russell and Tracy Lawrence. Glenn’s inspiring melodies and ideas are as integral to Gypsy Jones as George’s were to his band.
Guitarist David Glauber now finds himself surrounded and collaborating with the very people who inspired him to take up guitar. He started in his early teens playing St. Louis clubs. After studying music at the University of North Texas, David returned to his roots and has been fortunate to keep his music alive with friends and family. “It’s such a great feeling to be in this amazing ensemble. The sound has deep roots, but it lives and breathes the music of today.”
Keyboardist Eric Keener is a multi-instrumentalist. His Hammond organ and classic Wurlitzer piano style are as integral to the rhythm section as the melody. Part of the bands feel is due to Eric, Glen and Joe’s ability to anticipate each other, having worked together on stage and in the studio.
Bassist Joe Vander Pluym says “Many bassist are frustrated guitarist, but I’m a bass player, that’s all I’ve ever wanted to be. I love the feel of the bass and drums making a song rumble” The bands groove is built on Joe and Don’s churning, tight, soulful rhythms.

CARTER BECKWORTH- Singer, Songwriter
Carter Beckworth is an American musician from Austin, Texas. He released his debut album, “Fairweather Grace” in 2007. He is also the lead vocalist of the Pop/Rock band, Baker Hotel, with whom he has released two albums, 2008′s “Baker Hotel,” and “Hard To Prove” (2010).
Beckworth’s self-titled follow-up to “Fairweather Grace” was released on August 23, 2011. His newer work is showcased in a truly unique new style, combining R&B, jazz, and electronic elements that highlight Beckworth’s songwriting prowess in a surprisingly organic, if modern-sounding product.
“Beckworth’s voice is smooth, with just the right amount of soulful grit to his songs that build from their solid singer-songwriter frameworks into rootsy guitar driven pop.”
- Andrew Dansby, The Houston Chronicle
Beckworth regularly performs both as a solo artist and with Baker Hotel, showcasing his skills in multiple contexts. He has shared the stage with such noteworthy performers as Randy Rogers, Carolyn Wonderland, Bob Schneider, Bruce Robison, Black Oak Arkansas, Mike McClure, Micky and the Motorcars, and The Resentments.
His acoustic performances feature moving ballads that discover the songwriter within, a skeleton of the larger-than-life persona he has cultivated on the big stage.
